• Alkaline batteries - Kwantlen College by Lansdowne Mall has a box by the book store 
• Rechargeable batteries can be taken to Radio Shack for recycling
• Soft plastic bags such as bread bags, shopping bags etc. can be taken to the Save -On Foods CHANGES centre on No. 3 Road by Akroyd Rd.
  ** better yet, use cloth bags to reduce impact
• Aluminum foil/ pans can be recycled at the Richmond Depot on Lynas Lane, off Westminster Hwy.
• Cell phones -Phones for Phunds is now in motion; Take your used phones( just the phone, not all the attachments) and place in the box at the Guide House. Girl Guides of Canada receives $$$ and we're keeping the Earth a little cleaner.
  There are over 10 million phones in Canada, most going to the dump when retired. It is estimated that by 2005, 100 million phones will be retired in the US each year.
• Reminder that in Richmond only 1, 2 and 5 type plastics can be recycled. 
  Delta curbside collects plastics from 1-7 ( check the triangle on the bottom of the container) as well as soft plastics ( shopping bags). 
  Contact your local municipality to encourage more inclusive recycling. 
• Save those pop can tabs, the Fraser Delta Area Trefoil saves them to help fund kids with kidney disease to go to camp
