Helpful Hints when applying for Education Grants!
 

Please use black ink (not felt) on your application 
Remember to read each question carefully and fill in each line
  • Practice on a copy of the application before you use the one you will be submitting
  • Check your spelling
  • Print neatly – it’s hard to evaluate an application when it takes time to decipher the printing 
Your personal letter should be formally written to the Awards committee.
  • Don’t forget to address the letter to the committee and include proper salutations. This is your formal introduction to the committee.
Reference Letters
  • Make sure the REFERENCE portion of the application is completed with only one Guider/Commissioner and one personal reference name. Include their complete information as requested.
  • Reference letters must refer to your application for bursary funds and explain why you would be a good candidate.
  • Make sure your references are chosen carefully and that they are able to mail their reference letter in a sealed envelope to:

The envelope must be marked “PERSONAL AND CONFIDENTIAL

REFERENCE LETTERS ARE NOT TO BE GIVEN TO, READ BY OR SUBMITTED BY THE APPLICANT. THESE LETTERS ARE CONFIDENTIAL LETTERS WRITTEN TO THE AWARDS COMMITTEE.
Please ensure the persons writing your reference letters know the date of the deadline and understand that it is a formal letter they are submitting.

REFERENCE LETTERS MAY NOT BE WRITTEN BY ANY CURRENT MEMBER OF THE AWARDS COMMITTEE INCLUDING THE CURRENT AREA COMMISSIONER WHO SITS ON THE COMMITTEE AS AN EX-OFFICIO.
